ROTARIANS IN ACTION
2026 Binational Forestry Course
Firefighters and first responders from Mexico, the United States, Chile, and Costa Rica gathered in Ensenada to enhance preparedness for wildland-urban interface fires.
Throughout the week, CAL instructors imparted technical expertise to international participants, fostering training rooted in cooperation, safety, and service. This initiative was made possible by Baja Bridges, Rotary Clubs, the Ensenada Fire Department, Civil Protection, CONAFOR, and partner organizations, who provided free training, food, logistics, lodging, and resource management.
This event exemplifies how preparedness transcends borders. When institutions collaborate, firefighters receive better training, communities are safeguarded, and cooperation turns into action. Rotary of Bajamar saves lives by protecting those who protect us, while Baja Bridges builds connections.
Firefighters face these challenges to safeguard lives.

Firefighter Assistance
We are excited to announce that the Rotary Club of Bajamar is working on a major project to bring a Fire Truck from Chicago to Ensenada, Baja California. This initiative will greatly enhance local emergency services and support our firefighters, helping to protect lives and properties.
Katherine Turner and Kino Jiminez, Directors of Baja Bridges and Rotary Club of Bajamar members
Kino & Katherine tirelessly support Baja fire departments by helping acquire equipment and trucks. He recently traveled to Illinois to purchase five fire engines for Baja communities and will return home with a ladder truck for Ensenada.
A big thank you to both for their dedication to our Rotary projects and Baja communities!

OUR PROJECTS

We are dedicated to a continuous skills' development, including some life-or-death first aid knowledge.

Bajamar Rotarians Marilyn Tollack, Michele MacDonald and Katherine Turner, along with Rotarians from several U.S. clubs gathered for training on the DNA/Cervical Cancer testing equipment that our club's Rotary grant is bringing to Baja, starting in San Felipe. PINCC is an NGO dedicated to the prevention of cervical cancer across the globe. A self-swab yields results in 67 minutes. Stages 1 & 2 can be treated on the spot! Training included professionals of government health care clinics and nurse practitioners. We are coordinating with the State of Baja Ca.’s Director of the Cancer Program to initiate the project in Mexico. Some equipment has been purchased and is in place in the San Felipe Clinic.

Our brand new club made out of leading men and women who are eager to do great projects in favor of their community.

SCIENCE BIOLOGY LABORATORY CECYTE "LA MISION"

The CECYTE education system in Mexico provides a curriculum geared toward educating high school aged students in scientific, technological and services careers.
The ONE in La Mison, B.C., is located in a small, rural, mixed agricultural and service community.
Its location leaves it mostly ignored by the responsible government agencies.
Through the efforts of the Bajamar Rotary Club, the school received new broadband internet service for its computer classroom and 10 ChromeBook computers for science class.

VOLUNTEERING
We had the great opportunity to partner with Baja California Spay Neuter Foundation to provide a volunteer opportunity for the students at Cecyte in La Mision. They collaborated by creating coloring books and bagging dog food to be distributed at the vet clinics. This collaboration is raising awareness and educating pet owners about the importance & the benefits of animal neutering, which helps to control animal populations and to reduce the number of unwanted animals that end up in shelters.
Thanks to everyone!
